[The opportunity to sleep at an inn was all too rare these days, but Dohalim finds himself especially grateful for them when they come— while he has made an effort to keep his complaints with regards to camping to an absolute minimum as he continues to adjust to a more rustic way of life. In many ways, he's made great strides, but he's still glad for the chance to sleep in a real bed when it comes, which makes it all the more strange that he's up.
He looks up from the document he'd been looking over, which appears to be a ledger of some sort.]
Law— I don't intend to be up all night, but I've had a few things on my mind. Kisara need never know.
[He'd never dream of it. Bros before hos or something like that, he'd never think of betraying someone's trust. ...Plus it'll somehow be his fault if he tattles anyway. He knows a bad idea when he sees it.
Law peers briefly at the document in Dohalim's hands.]
A ledger? You looking over our finances? [Maybe he should tell Kisara... Lest Dohalim spend half their savings on another artifact...]
[Law's alarm is certainly warranted, giving Dohalim's brief but colorful history with money management. He's managed not to allow himself to be too embarrassed by the fact that he's lacking in so many basic skills; they were never a part of his upbringing or lifestyle, though perhaps Shionne had been correct in saying his case was a little extreme.]
I am. After my recent— misstep with spending, I thought it might be a good idea to try and establish a baseline for how much certain things are worth.
[Fortunately, Kisara keeps close track of how much they spend on things like ingredients or curatives, and he's been watching recent business transactions a bit more closely than he initially might have thought to in the interest of, perhaps, learning something new.]
Having everything done for me in the past means that my experience is severely lacking in many areas that come naturally to the rest of you. I'd like to ensure that doesn't remain the case, at least not so blatantly.
[Law and Dohalim came from two very different walks of life, one of them a Renan Lord, and the other a mere Dahnan slave. Their experiences and knowledge couldn't be more different.
But if there was one thing they could agree on, it was the will to dedicate themselves to becoming better people today than they were the day before, each and every day. And so to that, Law gives Dohalim a gentle, albeit tired, smile.]
If you want, I could probably teach you a thing or three about how we Dahnans live.
and I do!
